About HSVP
Thomas E. Brownfield Jr. is the creator of Healthcare Safety & Violence Prevention. Recognizing current limitations in the pedagogy of this education he resolved to improve the delivery with a top-shelf evidence-based program. In addition to this, he serves as a global adviser and educator for violence prevention within the DoD. Mr. Brownfield oversees direct patient care, infection control measures, staff education, safe medication administration, staffing schedules, coordination of care, resource management, and allocation of government funds. Mr. Brownfield has recently been awarded two Meritorious Service Medals. One for contributions made while serving at Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston. The other was for his support during two deployments while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also received the Commissioned Grade Officer of the Quarter Award for his global efforts in patient and staff safety.

Mr. Brownfield earned a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Nursing Education from Grand Canyon University. He is Board-Certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. While holding the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force, Mr. Brownfield successfully completed Squadron Officer School. Currently, Mr. Brownfield is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology. He is passionate about safety and improving the healthcare setting. Bearing witness to the growing levels of violence in healthcare, Mr. Brownfield vowed to create HSVP as a nationwide initiative. This program is designed to establish foundational education for the healthcare setting. The program further supports the organization by means of an interdisciplinary team to review the program in accordance with hospital-acquired data. Healthcare Safety & Violence Prevention is a continuously improving product that will undoubtedly reduce violence, save money, and make organizations safer.
